Featured Projects

The District is committed to achieving success by delivering capital construction projects on-time and on-budget. The following projects are currently being featured by the Department of General Services (DGS).

Barry Farm Recreation Center

New recreation center built. Contractor being selected for Design Build.

Cardozo High School

This project is a full modernization of Cardozo High School with addition of a new gym, exterior restoration, roofing, systems replacement, ADA improvements, technology enhancements, and sustainable design initiatives. Designed for 846 students.

Dunbar High School

Completely new high school. 

La Casa

This project involves the design and new construction of the La Casa facility at 1448 Irving Street, NW. The building will be approximately 26,500 square feet and will provide a Permanent Supportive Housing accommodating forty men. The project is DC Green eligible and is tracking LEED Gold certification or higher. 

LaSalle-Backus School

Exterior/Entry to provide accessible front entrance by adding a site ramp. Provide limited landscaping. Add new building signage at the main entry.  Infill existing covered vestibule/porch at main entrance. Renovate expanded entrance and existing lobby. Provide enclosure for elevator. Window replacement and new restrooms. New interactive whiteboards. Reconfigure the Administrative spaces.

Marvin Gaye Recreation Center

Completely new recreation center. Contractor has been selected.

St. Elizabeth's Gateway Pavilion

Completely new recreation center.

Skyland Phase 1

The Skyland project is geared to promote neighborhood revitalization and economic growth on an 18-acre site located in Ward 7 at the intersections of Good Hope Road, Naylor Road, and Alabama Ave SE. While the Skyland Shopping Center is still active, a considerable portion of the shopping center is vacant, and now contains either underutilized buildings with some boarded-up and vacated buildings, which presents serious safety concerns in the neighborhood.
