DCPS Recycles! Honor Roll 2015

Apply for the DCPS Recycles! Honor Roll 2015

The DCPS Recycles! Honor Roll recognizes DCPS schools that have achieved high performance in recycling this year. High performance schools are schools that are correctly following the DCPS Recycles Waste Management Procedures and  getting the right materials to the right dumpsters everyday. This requires school-wide participation – proper sorting by all staff and students as well as correct collection by custodial staff. Schools that make the Honor Roll usually have implemented programs with effective delegation, excellent operations, and supporting education.

Schools may qualify based on the following criteria:

  • Paper and Cardboard
  • Mixed Recyclables
  • Organics - Kitchen and Cafeteria - This section only applies to schools that began receiving organics services this year.

DCPS schools are invited to fill out the DCPS Recycles! Honor Roll Application by February 27, 2015. The DCPS Recycles Honor Roll Application is a simple checklist that schools may use to determine whether they are meeting the Honor Roll criteria. Schools that are effectively recycling paper and cardboard will be listed on the Honor Roll. Schools that are recycling mixed recyclables and/or organics in addition to paper and cardboard will receive a banner to display at their school. Last year, 45 schools made the list.

The DCPS Recycles! Honor Roll 2015 will be announced on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, 2015.
