Mrs. Akyereko is no stranger to the District Government nor conducting real estate transactions. Prior to coming to the Department of General Services (DGS), she served as Assistant Attorney General for the District of Columbia, assigned to the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED). At DMPED, Mrs. Akyereko focused primarily on large real estate development transactions including commercial transactions and affordable residential housing. She served in that role for the last 10 years. Before stepping into District Government, Mrs. Akyereko practiced law in the District’s corporate world for 13 years, including at the prestigious Arent Fox law firm which was founded in 1942. Her corporate clients included businesses focused on real estate development, energy, venture capital, broadcast, and the telecommunications industries. Mrs. Akyereko began her career working for the Johnson & Johnson Company in New Jersey as a sales and marketing representative. She has been a missionary throughout Africa with the International Churches of Christ, received her Juris Doctorate from The George Washington University, National Law Center, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University. Mrs. Akyereko is a member of both the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia bar associations.
