JocCole “JC” Burton, LEED AP BD+C is the DC Department of General Services’ (DGS) Chief Project Delivery Officer.
Ms. Burton’s professional career spans two decades in the built environment that includes affordable housing development, general construction planning and construction management.
Prior to joining the Department of General Services, JC worked with the non-profit EcoDistricts, where she delivered all of the organizational products and services to advance district-scale urban redevelopment focused on equity, resiliency and sustainability.
Previously JC founded a construction management consulting firm that specialized in high-performing green projects as well as a general contractor where she led various construction teams to deliver more than $1B capital investment, asset repositioning, energy optimization and sustainability retrofit for municipal clients, developers and educational institutions.
She has also worked on some of the first LEED projects in the United States, which included more than 50 LEED projects and three Net-Zero projects. JC has also developed on-line sustainability platforms to help assess final driver for green investments. She brings these experiences and her personal commitment to excellence to every opportunity.
In her spare time, JC is a food access advocate and often volunteers her time working with children interested in STEM careers.
JC is a member of several industry affiliations, former chairwoman of the US Green Building Council Georgia Chapter, former member of the North Carolina A&T University Construction & Diversity Advisory Committee and an alumnus of Leadership Atlanta. She attended the University of California, Berkeley and has a Certificate of Finance & Accounting, Georgia State University.
