Joia Jefferson Nuri is a communications strategist and executive presentation and media coach. She has designed outreach programs for international human rights organizations and celebrity/activists Harry Belafonte and Danny Glover. In addition, Joia has written keynote addresses, congressional testimony, and five TEDx talks.
In 2009 and 2013, Joia planned Presidential Inaugural Galas after the elections of President Barack Obama. Her media work began as a technician for NBC and CBS News where she became the first African-American woman to serve as Technical Director of Face the Nation and the CBS Evening News. Later she worked as a writer and producer at WUSA, WJLA, BET, NPR and PBS affiliates, C-SPAN and nationally syndicated political talk shows. In 2012, Joia delivered the keynote address in Vienna, Austria before Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on sports and race and she also testified before a House Subcommittee on aid to Haiti.
