Matt Scalf joined the Department of General Services (DGS) in February of 2018, moving from a role as Deputy Director of the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs (OPLA) within the Executive Office of Mayor Muriel Bowser. Matt first joined District Government as a Capital City Fellow in the spring of 2012. He has previously served in legislative and policy roles with the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services as well as the District Department of Corrections. Matt also has experience working on Capitol Hill for a national professional association and working for the Deputy Mayor of London in a policy and speechwriting capacity. Matt holds a BA in Sociology and Philosophy from Miami University and an MA in Policy with focus in Philosophy and Social Policy from The George Washington University. He is a resident of the Van Ness neighborhood in Ward 3.
