Michelle Dee, Chief Administrative Officer

Michelle Dee

Michelle Dee is a team-oriented, results-focused leader with over 10 years’ experience spanning budget and performance management, government operations, and financial analysis. As the Chief Administrative Officer for the District's Department of General Services (DGS), Michelle oversees the financial and strategic management of approximately $1B of the city's operating and capital funding. She directs the planning and execution of DGS’ annual budget and oversees the agency’s IT infrastructure.Prior to DGS, Michelle was the Deputy Director of Operations at the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE). While at DOEE, Michelle supervised a team of over thirty members and oversaw the agency's internal operations, including budget, human resources, information technology, fleet, grants, contracts and procurement, and small business compliance. She joined the Government of the District of Columbia in the Executive Office of the Mayor where she analyzed agency budget and performance management within the Office of the City Administrator (OCA) and contributed to business and real estate development strategies at the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED). Michelle also served as a Budget Analyst with the DC Council, Office of the Budget Director. Prior to working for the Government of the District of Columbia, Michelle consulted for the World Bank, where she worked on environmental and sustainable development issues for the East Asia Pacific region.

With a love for travel, Michelle pursued further learning abroad. She holds a Master’s in Development Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK), a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Toronto (Canada), and a Bachelor’s from Queen’s University (Canada).
