NOTICE: DGS Releases Second Launch Pad Event Scope of Work to District CBEs

Tuesday, March 7, 2017
Launch Pad Event focuses on Energy & Sustainability opportunity at King Greenleaf Rec Center

(WASHINGTON, DC) The Department of General Services (DGS) released the Scope of Work for their Second Launch Pad Event. This Scope of Work focuses on opportunities for Certified Business Enterprises (CBEs) to work with DGS’ Energy & Sustainability Division by clearly stating:

“DGS seeks a Contractor to supply LED tubes, bulbs and to retrofit existing fluorescent and Metal Halide type luminaries with new LED luminaries in select areas of the King Greenleaf Recreation Center located at 201 N Street, SW; Washington, DC in Ward 6.”

In case you missed the special (previous) announcement about The Launch Pad Initiative, here is a short overview of DGS’ new initiative:

The Launch Pad is a new opportunity for DGS to engage local Certified Business Enterprises (CBE) through an innovative concept that works towards Mayor Bowser’s city-wide initiative of creating pathways to the middle class.

In response to public requests for increased engagement with CBEs, DGS has created an opportunity for businesses to receive a small contract awards with District Government for innovative ideas tied to city-wide development.

Following a concept similar to the nationally televised show “Shark Tank,” local CBEs get the chance to bring their talents to fruition through the opportunity to present in front of DGS Senior Staff. Each CBE will be allotted a 5-minute presentation time slot with the Launch Pad Judges Panel — in return, their business can potentially be awarded a contract with the District (of up to $10,000). Each contestant will work to efficiently and effectively convince the judges of their business ideas. After the presentations, the judges will make a decision on the spot as to who is awarded a contract, as well as, the amount to be awarded. Contracts will be awarded on the same day.

This initiative is open to all CBEs in the District. DGS encourages CBEs to participate as we continue our efforts of elevating the quality of life for District residents and businesses by promoting a transparent, competitive process for engagement. The Launch Pad Initiative opportunities will occur monthly.
