Due to an extended period of elevated heat index conditions in the District of Columbia and widespread HVAC equipment failures across multiple DC Public Schools (DCPS) facilities, ambient temperatures within several school buildings have become critically high. These conditions pose an immediate risk to student and staff safety, impede the ability to maintain required indoor environmental standards, and threaten the continuity of school operations at the start of the academic year.
