Employee of the Month: Amar Singh

Please join DGS in congratulating Amar Singh, General Engineer with the Department of General Services’ Sustainability & Energy Division (DGS S+E) and an employee with the District of Columbia Government for the 25-plus years for going above and beyond and earning the designation of Employee of the Month for June 2015.

Amar’s expertise, work ethic and dedication helps the agency achieve its ambitious sustainability goals. He is trained in electrical engineering and is focused on evidence-based practices. He tailors his work to specifically meet the needs of each individual project that he oversees.
Most recently, Amar worked on the replacement lighting inside of the Frank D. Reeves Municipal Center underground parking garage. This particular project will save energy and money; the project will help save 221,628 kilowatts of energy per year and result in an annual savings of $22,628.

He is diligent about meeting the requirements that DGS S+E has been implementing inside of the DC Public Schools, District Municipal centers and DPR facilities. Amar has been instrumental with ideas to assist on collaborating about data to collect for the DCPS Sprint-to-Savings Energy Contest that DGS hosted.

In his spare time, Singh is a traveler and has recently returned from Moscow.

Amar’s actions speak volumes of his belief in DGS core principles. He provides extraordinary, innovative and creative customer service while accomplishing her regular responsibilities and going beyond the call of duty.
