Project Description
This DC Infrastructure Academy (DCIA) project will support the existing Spingarn High School and the site's alteration, expansion, and renovation. The DCIA program will occupy approximately 50,000 SF of interior and 12,000 SF of exterior space. The overall size of the existing building and external footprint is roughly (931,107sf.). The remainder of the building will be maintained as a WARM DARK SHELL: The unoccupied sprinkler side of the building will be heated and include insulated exterior wall upgrades and new windows. This area consists of the DCIA fit-out, the floors above DCIA, and the front center of the building up to the new elevator and shaft just south of the main lobby. The program focuses on occupational skills training and work-based learning initiatives related to the infrastructure industry, including the utility, energy efficiency, transportation, and automotive sectors.
