One of the most important agenda items in Mayor Muriel Bowser’s initiative to create ‘Pathways to the Middle Class’ is the process of ending homelessness in the city.
Patricia Handy Building Upgrades
Renovations to include
• Upgrade the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system
• Renovate group restrooms to mitigate water leaks
• Replace the elevator
• Mitigate water intrusion into the rear of the Basement
Short Term Family Housing Construction Project - Ward 6
This project involves the construction of a new, iconic, 53,000 square foot residential building in Ward 6. The 7-story building will house 7-10 residential units per floor with a total of 50 Short Term Family Housing (STFH) units.
Short Term Family Housing Construction Project - Ward 8
The newly constructed Ward 8 STFH program will include fifty (50) family units, computer labs for the residents, administrative space for staff and providers, outdoor playground and recreational space, age-appropriate indoor recreation space, homework/study lounge for residents and other amenities.
