McMillan Stabilization and Restoration Project

Project Overview

Construction of a new ~17,500 SF community center, park and playground on the 6.2-acre Parcel 6 (South parcel) of the historic McMillan Slow Sand Filtration Site. Scope also includes stabilization, preservation, and restoration of the historic assets inside the north and south service courts including all sand bins, sand washers, and regulator houses. Additional historic preservation and restoration will be completed on a portion of filter Cell 28, and all portal walls along the south service court. Demolition of parcels 1-7 as necessary to allow for future development.

Status: The larger development, which includes demolition and new construction, is on hold pending resolution of the court of appeals ruling issued on 12/9/16. DGS are proceeding with procurement of the stabilization and restoration scope of the historic assets (20 x Sand Bins, 4 x Regulator Houses, and 10 Sand Washers). Expected start on site date Summer 2017.
