Design-Builder Services for Maury Elementary School Documentation

Tuesday, December 6, 2016

The District of Columbia Department of General Services ("DGS" or "Department") is issuing this Request for Proposals ("RFP") to engage a contractor to design and construct the modernization and renovation of John Maury Elementary School (the "Project"). Maury Elementary School is located at 1250 Constitution Avenue, E, Washington, DC 20002. The existing building was originally constructed in 1886, and an addition, connected through a ground-level causeway, was constructed in 1961. The existing building is approximately 46,800 square feet and has a capacity of 360 students. The building underwent a Phase 1 modernization in 2010, and the effort focused on renovating the academic spaces as well as the lobby, main office, restrooms, and classrooms. Modular classrooms have been placed on-site to house the portion of the population that cannot currently be accommodated within the existing building footprint. DCPS desires to expand the school, constructing an addition, in order to accommodate either 457 or 539 students (to be determined in the concept phase).
