Overview
The Department of General Services’ Facilities Management Division (FMD) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of approximately 840 District-owned properties, including public schools, facilities that house the Metropolitan Police Department facilities and Fire and Emergency Management Services, District homeless shelters, and several leased properties. As the liaison for operational resolutions between agencies and landlords in leased buildings, FMD maintains facility assets and equipment, performing various repairs and nonstructural improvements, and provides janitorial, trash and recycling pickup, postal, and engineering services. FMD is devoted to ensuring that the District municipal buildings, schools, parks and recreation centers, homeless shelters, and police and fire facilities are operational each day for residents, District workers, and visitors of the District of Columbia.
