The Department of General Services (DGS) has started the process of installing GPS devices in all of its vehicles and will continue the rollout process now that snow season is behind us. The GPS technology will be used to improve agency efficiency by tracking, monitoring and analyzing vehicle maintenance requirements to help ensure that vehicles are operating properly. The new system will also assist with future purchasing decisions for the agency’s fleet. Drivers of DGS vehicles will receive a key fob which will eliminate the need to complete mileage sheets.
