The Anacostia Gateway was originally planned to be the future headquarters of the District Department of Transportation. Due to the lack of available funding, the project had to be canceled. While future plans are being considered, the District is preparing the site for future development opportunities. Site demolition razed the property and cleared the site for future construction.
