Direct Connect
The DC Department of Human Resources (DCHR) announces it’s third “Direct Connect” hiring event aimed at connecting District agencies with District residents. The event is FREE, but registration is required for jobseekers.
  • Who: All District residents are invited to attend. The event is restricted to District residents. (Only 2,000 registered attendees will be admitted)
  • What: “Direct Connect” will offer District residents the opportunity to meet directly with District agencies.
  • Where: University of the District of Columbia, 4200 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20008
  • When: Thursday, April 20, 2017; 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Register: Registration for DCHR's third "Direct Connect" will open on April 18, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. on Eventbrite. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.
On-the-spot job offers will be issued from the following agencies:
  • DC Department of General Services
  • DC Child and Family Services Administration
  • The Office of the State Superintendent of Education
  • DC Department of Parks and Recreation
  • DC Department of Motor Vehicles

Contingent job offers for all positions at these agencies will be made within 48 hours after the event.

Applicants will have the option of claiming additional preference if they are:

1. A District resident,
  • Anyone claiming District residency preference at the time of application should bring a government-issued form of identification and proof of voter registration.
2. A veteran (and/or has disabilities from military service),
  • Applicants claiming veteran’s preference should bring a copy of their DD-214.
3. Is 18 to 21 years of age and is currently or was a Child and Family Services (CFSA) foster care recipient within the last five years.
  • Applicants claiming a foster care preference will need a letter or other documentation from CFSA or the Family Court of D.C. Superior Court showing that they are currently in foster care or showing the date they left court supervision.
