Benning Road Transfer Station

Project Description:

Phase 1: Abatement and Demolition Phase 2: A/E Design Phase 3: Construction
The Project Scope Includes : The construction of the new Benning Road Transfer Station aims to be a state-of-the-art facility for the District adding much needed increased capacity for waste management and sustainable initiatives. Since the 1960’s, the station served as a pillar of the community offering jobs and education opportunities to District residents. The proposed new Benning Road Transfer Station will similarly benefit District residents with dedicated attributes for learning and engagement with DC Department of Public Works. After the existing facility is demolished, the proposed new facility will be built to include a larger tipping floor, a residential drop off area, and other amenities . This highly anticipated project is an opportunity for the District to take a large step towards its waste diversion goals through significant infrastructure improvement.
