Jen Croft is the Associate Director of the DGS Sustainability and Energy Management Division (DGS-SE) and a Certified Energy Manager (CEM). DGS-SE is responsible for transforming the District government's utility supply and 35M-square foot-owned real estate portfolio through energy and sustainability programming, policy, and procedures.
The DGS-SE Division has three core objectives: limit portfolio resource consumption and environmental impacts, increase the building portfolio's digital control and system knowledge, and deliver cost savings to District taxpayers and agencies. DGS-SE programming across the DGS portfolio of District government buildings ranges from performing energy analyses and retrofits to managing wind and solar power purchase agreements, developing the District government's first energy savings performance contract, managing utility bills, and overseeing trash, recycling, and organics collections. DGS-SE solicits input from sister divisions and supports them by providing technical knowledge of sustainable design and operations, energy supplies and markets, climate policy, money-saving government resources, and data analytics.
Jen is currently a voting member of the DC Building Energy Performance Standard Task Force, Green Building Advisory Committee, and Climate Commitment Act Task Force.
Jen served as a Capital City Fellow with the DC Department of Energy and Environment and DGS. She started her career working for the Jane Goodall Institute, which helps combat climate change by improving the lives of local communities, reducing deforestation, and protecting biodiversity. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College and a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University.
Jen has lived in three of the District's four quadrants for almost twenty years and is currently a resident of Ward 6.
