Under the DC Healthy Schools Act of 2010, DGS is responsible for a variety of activities designed to ensure that schools are healthy, safe places to learn. These include programs on recycling and composting, energy reduction, drinking water testing, indoor air quality, and integrated pest management.
The DC Department of General Services (DGS) invites all DC schools (public, private, and charter) to participate in the annual for Growing Healthy Schools Month. This competition, designed to encourage correct recycling in classrooms, begins the second week of October. Registration for this year’s competition closes Oct.7, 2022. For any questions, please contact Schools Conservation Coordinator, Brooke Hartman (202) 701 - 3158 or [email protected].
